Benjamin Creme















Through his work as the Chief Editor of Share International magazine, as author of many books, and as international speaker, Benjamin Creme has been an inspiration throughout the world in presenting information about the emergence of Maitreya the World Teacher and the Masters of Wisdom. Working from a background of the Ageless Wisdom Teachings given to the world by Helena Blavatsky, co-founder of the Theosophical Society, and the Alice Bailey esoteric teachings, he has expanded and brought up to date this ancient knowledge.


Working under the tutelage of one of the Masters of Wisdom, Benjamin Creme dedicated the last 40 years of his life to his work for the Emergence of Maitreya the World Teacher and the Masters of Wisdom, and in doing so inspired hundreds of thousands of people across the world. He began his public work in 1975 and lectured worldwide from 1979 onwards, only finally stopping at the age of 90.


Many would acknowledge that our planet is steeped in times of unprecedented change. People everywhere are waking up, longing for transformation, convinced that a better world is possible. In such times, there are exceptional individuals who emerge from the human family and come forward to play unique and important roles in the outworking of our history and future development. One such individual, we believe, was Benjamin Creme.

It can be said that such people are people of destiny. From an early age, Mr Creme was guided by two driving forces, focused on two paths, which shaped his life and forged his destiny: one of artistic expression and one of prophecy.



To be sure, few set out deliberately to be a prophet. It is more a matter of accepting the call when it comes. Such a person is able to see into the future, understand the changes humanity needs to make and has the courage to present that vision far and wide. 


Mr Creme’s comprehensive knowledge of the Ageless Wisdom Teachings that underlie all religious traditions, his ongoing telepathic contact with a Master of Wisdom, and his decades-long work as author and lecturer, preparing for the advent of the emerging World Teacher, Maitreya, and a group of similarly enlightened Beings, the Masters of Wisdom, made relevant and manifest his work in prophecy. In these chaotic times, Benjamin Creme became known to millions as a messenger of hope.

As the primary source of information about the emergence of Maitreya and the Masters, Mr Creme was particularly tireless. Having criss-crossed the globe many times over four decades, he brought this extraordinary and critically important message to an expectant, yet sometimes skeptical world. Countless radio and television interviews, public talks, conferences, serving as editor-in-chief of Share International magazine and authoring 16 inspiring and uplifting books formed a large part of this effort. He was also able to engage a worldwide network of willing, enthusiastic volunteers to help disseminate this information, guiding and mentoring their efforts. 


Another essential component in this endeavor was, through the aegis of his Master, the introduction to the world of Transmission Meditation, a group meditation and form of service in which higher spiritual energies are focused and distributed by meditation groups for the benefit of humanity. Since Transmission Meditation was first introduced in 1974, several thousand groups have come into existence. 


Being the forerunner for the advent of the World Teacher, as Mr Creme once noted elsewhere, is an enormous, even embarrassing claim to make. But it was not one he made lightly. He avowed it, rather, because it was simply a fact of his experience.

As an artist, Benjamin Creme originally drew inspiration from Picasso, Klee and his own mentor, Jankel Adler. Working with these influences and his own powerful conceptual vision, he created a striking and original personal style that can be described as abstractly representational.


Around 1963, working in closer contact with his Master, he began to forge in his art a unique union between the two paths in life on which he was engaged. His work since that time sought to give expression to “that Inner Reality that becomes accessible to the mind through meditation.” Profoundly symbolic in nature, his later paintings are visual representations of deeper spiritual truths. Stylistically groundbreaking, they constitute a genre of artistic expression the world has never before seen. And as mandalas – works which can engage the attention and aspiration of the viewer and impart the essence of the meaning they represent – they introduce to the world an entirely new kind of spiritual art.   


The successful blending and combining of these paths is rare in the history of the arts and the broader history of human spirituality, and the Benjamin Creme Museum seeks to spotlight and make more widely known the work of this exceptional man. Above all, Mr Creme’s life was one of inspired and multi-faceted service to the world. In his several roles, as an artist and as a visionary helping to inaugurate a new and brilliant era, he made an impact that few might equal, an impact that even now has yet to be fully understood. He undertook to perform this service cheerfully and altruistically, and, as his work makes clear, he achieved that with great intelligence, style, heart and panache.
